I love my G15... mostly for out of game use though, hardly use it in game. (Although I can scroll through my playlist while in game in the little lcd, and the macros can be shortcuts for any program. Also the disabling of the windows button when the switch is on is useful as well.

Registry hacks take about .05 seconds + however long it takes to reboot your computer, don't cost $80, and don't take up half your deskspace with plastic.

Thats not the ONLY reason, its just one of the many features. And while some (not all) of the features would be possible without the G15, this makes it so you don't have to change 5000 different things to get your computer set up right.

Otterpay wrote: I don't think comparing this to water cooling is relevant at all. It would make more sense to compare this set up to a limited edition water cooling set up from let's say koolance that offers very little the danger den set up that is already out doesn't have. But it's a limited run. Also, what's to say your pad wont lose it's surface in a years time? Yeah my f10s func pad is worn down on the right side after one year, so I flipped it over. So if my pad lasts for 2 years which has an almost identical surface to yours and costs half as much, just to make it financially worthwhile your pad will need to last for 4 years before it's worn down beyond use. I just don't see that happening. This is leaving the surface preference argument out, because both mine and yours have a similar surface. If we were to include the surface preference argument of course cloth would win any day because the pads cost $2 and each last 10 years. But yeah that aside. I dunno...I just don't see how anyone can justify $100 in mouse pad. I thought I was retarded to justify $50 in mouse pad. Heck when I'm chilling with my friends I leave that part out because it's silly to think we are spending that much on mouse pads lol. These companies have us by the balls and we love it I've been gaming for years and only recently did the marketing brains in the pc gaming industry start turning out so much crap that none of us actually need to game well lol. Water cooling doesn't really add performance as well, it's an aesthetic modification. Means no dust but takes a lot of work. But yeah with how high performance fans are these days the cooling benefit from both is virtually identical depending on the season and where in your house the PC is located.
I think that you are looking at the comparrison from a completely different angle.
What I meant was - some people will run standard un-modded PC's and be perfectly happy with it. Then there are people that have to have the custom, cool, modded system.
Same thing with the SX pad, it may not offer anything significantly better than other cheaper priced pads, but the fact that its made out of metal makes its cool.
Some people would feel silly spending $100 on mouse pads like you said, but some people also think its silly to mod their boxes up too. Its a comparrison of preference, nothing more, nothing less.

As far as unique surfaces go, don't you think the GLASS icemats have kinda gone as far as we can go with the technology we've got right now? It almost feels like metal mousepads were a long overdue marketing sell. Now we just need some crap like "ultra-fine weave, low friction kevlar mousepad!!! Stops real bullets!!!"
edit: terrible grammar

My mouse pad was advertised as having a low friction micro-tephlon surface or some junk. I think that's as close as we will get to the kevlar surface. But yeah I dunno...the icemats were ultimately a failure for the majority of laser mouse users. maybe this metal surface wont be? I dunno I wont be switching any time soon I spent my far too much for a mouse pad budget for this decade but yeah

I used my MX1000 and MX Revolution on my icemat, no problems here. No lag, or having to take it off or anything.

Aye, I have two icemats here. One is missing a portion due to breakage. The other one is a cutting board in my kitchen now for veggies. But hey, its definately a good pad. I like it, had no issues with it either.

somehow those two statements seem somewhat contradictory...
I've always thought that the combination between LAN party mobility and GLASS MOUSEPADS has been a recipie for disaster...

Okay Mr. Analyzer - I had no issues with the pad itself, it broke because of my butter fingers when I dropped it by accident.
