- Sign ups start at the event at 9:00am on Thursday, and continue until matches start on Friday afternoon
- At any time, the administrator may elect to project your game on the stage screens.
Round Robin Qualifying
- The competitors will be divided into pools of four. Each player will play one game with each other competitor in their pool for a total of three games each.
- Once pools are assigned, no favors will be done to get you into or out of specific pools.
- A score between zero and four will be generated based on a competitor's performance within their pool. This score will be based off of the number of games won and match elapsed time. This score will be used to seed the Double Elimination Tournament.
- Matches will be played on predetermined maps.
- It will be up to the competitors to find their opponents and start their matches, this will be streamlined as best we can using Battle.net.
- Replays of the games are to be uploaded at the completion of the match. The replays will be used to adjudicate the match.
Double Elimination Tournament
- The 16 competitors with the highest scores from the Round Robin will participate in the Double Elimination tournament. A competitor has to be defeated twice before they are eliminated from the tournament.
- It will be up to the competitors to find their opponents and start their matches, this will be streamlined as best we can using Battle.net.
- If competitors cannot agree on a map, map selection will be as follows: Each competitor will eliminate a map of their choice starting with the winner of a coin toss. Only 1v1 maps will be allowed unless agreed upon by both parties. Novice maps are disallowed.
- Replays of the games are to be uploaded at the completion of the match. The replays will be used to adjudicate the match.
In-Game Rules
- Cheating is gaining an unfair advantage over your opponent.
- The following (but not limited to) is considered cheating:
- Altering the game in anyway outside of what can be done in game. This includes changing textures, models, skins, cross hairs, maps, sounds, etc.
- The use of any 3rd party utility that modifies the game or information coming into the game.
- Intentional usage of a recognized bug or glitch.
- The use of any communications other than what is provided within the game is prohibited. This includes IRC and Ventrilo etc.
- If during a game you suspect your opponent is cheating, immediately pause the game and get the tournament organizer, and make your case.
- A match played through to completion is considered fair play in that both competitors accept the outcome of the match.
- Either competitor may elect to restart the game once within the first minute for any reason.
- Abuse of pausing or restarting (Crying Wolf) is to be reported to the tournament organizer as cheating.
- Depending on the severity of cheating, the match may be restarted or forfeited.
- All decisions by the tournament organizer are final.
Courtesy:
- As this is a family friendly event, it is also a family friendly tournament. Please be courteous to your fellow competitors.
- Extensive vulgarity, personal attacks, or other unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a forfeit of the offending player.
- Remember that you will be remembered not only if you win, but also how you win.
Time Limit:
- Due to time constraints, we will be implementing a time limit of 1 hour per match. We ask that competitors try not to stretch out their games past an obvious loss.
- A competitor who intentionally stalls the completion of the game using Hide-And-Seek tactics (or otherwise perpetuating a losing strategy) will forfeit the match.
- At the 1 hour mark, either player may elect to end the match and have the game judged based on score alone.
- For any match taken significantly past the 1 hour mark, the winner will be decided by the tournament organizer based on the general score and tactical situation of both players at the 1 hour mark.
- Referees and tournament organizers may choose to extend the time limit if the end appears close.
Disconnects:
- If a player drops during a game, then The game will be declared a victory, or rematch at organizers discression.
- Intentionally disconnecting is considered cheating.
- Competitors are responsible for the stability of their own computers (power issues aside)
Gameplay Exploits:
- Due to the newness of the game and the extensive beta test prior to launch, we are inclined to believe Blizzard has weeded out most bugs and exploits. We have no foundation on which to build our list of cheats and hacks. That said, it is all subject to judgment. If you manage to send in a firebat squad, or invulnerable warp prisms, I think someone will notice.
