Why dont you just move it to Calgary next year... and say the hell with Edmonton... Its not like i look forward to this all year.. This is an incredibly selfish view. Fraga is something that a lot of good, hardworking people put a lot of effort into making fun for everyone, and to bitch them out in this manner is completely unnecessary, inconsiderate and rude. Think about all the effort that goes into this event before you start selfishly lashing out at people who only do what they do for the enjoyment of others, including you. Grow up. That being said, I'm absolutely thrilled about the new venue. I think it'll provide for one of the best Frag's to date . We should probably name some one head of 7-11 aquisitions, and have them in charge keeping a ready supply of slurpees and doritoes on hand

I like the idea of having a booster juice and a 7-11 right near by. That takes care of any need you could have other than a sleeping spot. And if we're in a soccer field, it'd be cool if they leave the grass down Might make the chair races hard, but wipe-outs wont be as painful! No grass... I hear it's the felt like astroturf

This will only be my second year attending but I have to say that all I have seen is the frag staff doing their best to make a fantastic event happen for everyone.
The fact it changed 2 weeks before the event is unfortunate, however I give a big thumbs up to all the hard work the staff does.
and who knows.... maybe I can step out for a round of real golf.....

What pavillion is it being held in? I looked on the website and this looks like an amazing venue to hold frag at. Showers, 7-11, free parking, booster juice.

2 thumbs up, 5 stars!

2 thumbs up, 5 stars! They call it the Soccer Pitch. Basically the indoor Soccer field (only one at the DOW Center).

The amount of registered participants seemed to go up from year to year until now, all of which had the aforementioned tourney. I could really care less if there is that particular tournament or not (especially due to the attitude of some in attendance specifically for it), but I see the numbers slowly dwindling off in the future. I'd consider changing the 1.6 tourney to CS:S, seeing as how it is the more popular game between the two and still on the Top Sellers list on Steam. In the end it doesn't really matter to me. Just a thought... Well, the staff asked the C.S. players to put their thoughts forward and they didn't. Most of those players said that they would be signing up at the door instead of using pre-reg, a sign that they didn't want to come due to the cost. The teams from the U.S. complained that they didn't get enough notice in due time out the tourney rules, but they really didn't take the time to check. The fault is on them, not the venue. The staff could have switched the tourney to Source and the same result would have occurred. Commo has already done the math when it comes to 1.6 vs Source player base and he made the right decision to have 1.6. The CS players had a chance to put fourth their input, however nearly every CS player (source or 1.6) that I know, that have attended Fraga the previous years were not aware of any details on a CS tournament. Its just a matter of CS players generally not keeping track of Fragapalooza several months in advance of the event, unlike the usual LAN community that attend Fraga. Though I can say that the CS players who would need to travel a distance to Fragapalooza would probably not be in favor of it being held in such a small city, such as Fort Saskatchewan.

If there are 500 people at a LAN in New York, or 500 people at a LAN in Fort Saskatchewan, what is the difference? Please explain to me why it makes a difference?

i appreciate that your business mindset led you to this decision, however it is ridiculous. it is worse than your april fools jokes...
asking people to travel to another town for an event which they may have already paid for? for those who don't stay overnight, you are now essentially forcing them to. there are no transit/cab options late night, and local gamers are left stranded.
i hope you will be refunding those who have prepaid.

i hope you will be refunding those who have prepaid. How is it ridiculous? We could cancel the event, or find a venue that was appropriate for our needs. Guess which option we chose? There are always options for those people who do not drive. For some people it is closer than Northlands. For others it is farther. Last time I checked there was no late night transit options available ANYWHERE in Edmonton either. I am positive there will be people who can give you a ride if that is the only hurdle for you. The new venue is FAR superior to the original one and we believe this makes up for any potential problems.

Sorry Koosh, but I find no reason to agree with what you are saying. For my first Frag attendance, I lived in Millwoods and the event was in Mayfield. With enough planning, I was able to get to and from the event without problems. I had no car at the time, and luckily I had friends from Calgary that offered to me a lift to and from the venue. Distance wise, it's no different from someone travelling downtown to Ft. Sask.
What I am saying here is that when there is a will, there is a way. I think there is enough of a social base in the this community for someone to ask a question in regards to transportation and have it resolved within due time.

I'm one of those people, that if I'm making a run to the city I can give people a ride (7pass suv, well 6 due to my tool box) but I dunno what I'm doing when so I'm not going to schedule anything other than on said days. In the past people have flown in from out of province or out of country and they make due, they make arangements. For those people who don't or can't stay over night, they might need to leave 30min earlier than compared to Northlands to make sure they can make whatever ETS connections they need. And I'm pretty sure co-op or yellow cab will send a car out to the Fort no problems.

People paid for the event, with the obvious understanding it would be held at the advertised venue. You are changing the venue to a different city that will most likely effect many people's traveling plans and also their accommodation if they're arriving from somewhere aside from Edmonton. Its pretty shady to make a major change of the venue, and as you made no mention of it, probably not offer refunds on prepaid registrants.
