We have run into a serious snag that we are working through. We are having some issues with booking the Mayfield and are looking at an alternate location. The biggest snag will be the date may have to change.

We realize that some of you have booked your vacation time already and that is why we are making this announcement now, even though nothing has been confirmed. Please bear with us as we work on getting this confirmed ASAP.

If we have to change venues, the new date for Fragapalooza will be August 7 - 10.

If you have any concerns or questions, please direct them to me in IRC (#fragpalooza on ETG) or in the forums.

I'll consider this as a crisi-tunity; if Fraga changes venues then that may open some opportunities to the event. If not, then I've already got my vacation days booked and approved.

Set aside time in advance, book early, and keep your computer maintained and virus-free. That's the way to do it! (I swear I'll follow my own advice this year)

You know the Dell building itself wouldn't be that bad of an option really... assuming they didn't pull the cubes, you'd have a network drop and power already at every station, the building has good climate control, is easy to get to, and you wouldn't have to fight the hotel for parking.

Of course it's most likely that the cubes will be pulled as all that equipment afaik is just leased. But as far as power/climate the building certainly is a good option. Heck with the security doors you could even cut down on theft.

So funny option indeed. (I chuckled) It's something that may merit an serious look.

The Dell building doesn't have enough open space on a single floor, unless walls were knocked down. Personally I think a some of the adjoining halls in the agricom, or possibly Shaw Conference would be the best venues in the city for frag.

Parking at the agricom would not be a problem.

Shaw conference center could be a problem, cause you are fighting for parking space with other downtown-ites and there is not any parking that you could leave a vechile in the same place for 4 days with out racking up a huge parking lot expense, or hijacking a number of parking stalls at a hotel.

Man let me be the first to say this.

Fuck Mayfield. I'm personally getting sick and tired of their bullshit, and keep throwing more on the pile every year. This could be the best thing to ever happen to Fraga, although it's going to be a lot of work.

I wish you guys luck. You have everyone's support.

northlands has a few areas that could be used. 4 halls in the aggricom, the sportex, and there is some halls under the horse race area i remeber ( i have blown breakers there, so i dunno if the power will be good enough )

I suspect northlands would be similar to the mayfield on the food issue.

Lanning in the agricom would be pimp however!

The end decision will be theirs to make, though I am sure more than enough of you will be pushing for a different venue.

I'm tired of Mayfield's crap as well, but we have had this debate before. Where else are you going to find a location that is central to where everyone lives in the city, and at the same time, be able to provide ample parking for free (or cheap) and have food nearby? Factor in security (yes, we had our own as I was part of the team last year), and lodging adjoining to the venue.

Shaw Conference Center is out of the question due to parking and expensive lodging. I'm not sure about the Agricom as I have no knowledge of the place. What ever good you find in a venue also comes with it's share of the evil, which could be of the following: Scummy area, poor security/police presence, power problems, and other factors.

If Zeromus has said that he has blown breakers at the Agricom, I sure don't want to be there.

I think the Agricom would be the best venue in the city. Parking in those lots would cost a little bit, but it is secured parking. The area is pretty much to itself, meaning foot traffic would only visit Frag if they were planning on going there.

The only problem is the popularity of the venue. I'd imagine seeing as how it is already March it's booked for trade shows and Klondike Days and all that fun stuff.

Though definitely, the halls there are all separated by tear down walls, meaning 2 halls side by side would be just like the Mayfield.

Not sure how close restaurants and random places to eat are. I'm south side so not much experience with that area, anyone know?

One thing is for sure, wherever Frag is I'm there. Best 4 days of the summer 7 years in a row for me!
