Counterstrike 1.6 has far better gameplay and alot more team effort. Counter-strike: source has graphics and a very slow easy played gameplay. So lets face it if you like competitive gaming Counter-Strike 1.6 is where its at. Still dominate in the CPL and CAL leagues counter-strike has been around since 1999 and hasnt fallen off the chain very much at all. Counter-strike: Source came out as the new and improved counter-strike 1.6 but soon fell after the gameplay and realizm made the game more into a Halo-3 realtime game then a realism FPS game. Yes counter-strike 1.6 has alot of cheaters/script users but counter-strike 1.6 in a tournament is by far the best Counter-strike series ever played in LAN tournaments.

Extreme Gaming and Extreme Gameplay: Counter-Strike 1.6 still beats source obviously does if it is 10x stronger on the CAL, CEVO and CPL Leagues

I vote counter-strike 1.6 for a main tournament.

I think you guys are missing the point. This isn't a "CS: Source is better than 1.6" or vice versa argument. You're whole idea is flawed, the gp LAN (which I am assuming you are talking about, because they are far from thinking about the tournaments for the summer LAN) is just for fun. There will be small, fun tournaments, it's not some big CAL-esque tournament with huge prizes.

If you are referring to our event next month in Grande Prairie, I can almost guarantee that there will NOT be any type of CS tournament run by us. Why, you ask? With less than 50 people registered so far, there is no way we will be able to run a 5v5 tournament with more than a couple of teams...especially CS. This is not to say that you can't play CS, but we are running this event as a Grassroots type LAN Party, rather than a large exhibition/tournament style like our summer event. If you want to organize something, be my guest.

If you honestly think that CS is that popular, and you will get a large enough turnout to make it worthwhile, then get everyone to register for the event. Show me by way of registrations that I am wrong. Prove to me that more than 10 people coming to FP in GP play CS. I will believe it when I see it.

I'm going to be an extension of a certain piece of anatomy and say the following:

If all you are looking to do at the GP LAN is play CS, scream "Boom Headshot", and swear at the top of your lungs because you got sniped through a wall.... STAY HOME. You'd be doing us a favour instead of trying to voice a useless rant. I don't know how many times it has to be said and typed, WE ARE NOT A CAL/CPL COMMUNITY. If you think Frag is all about that sort of thing, you are sadly mistaken.

Like that has any relevance. Doesn't matter what version of CS you play, as the habits of gameplay usually piss off other attendees.

Considering how often it happens at frag, and how I saw no punching out, you are either new to frag, or full sh!t :P

You'd also get kicked out, so you can drop the tough guy on the internet routine :)

Looks more to me you guys couldnt handle a counter-strike 1.6 tourny i think its to hard for you ... I even bet you left cs1.6 cause you raged to much and decided to go to something easier and simpler CS:S
