I've got a dlink DIR-655. It is hardware version B1, with firmware 2.00NA. My main computer is hooked up to on a wired connection, and I have no problems. But recently, the wireless has started cutting out in the afternoon typically. Any wireless devices will be disconnected, and can't reconnect, no broadcast or nothing. I go into the manual wireless setup, turn it off, turn it back on, and it'll work for another day or so.

It has been set on mixed 802.11n, g and b. ( I am switching it to just n and g now, as a test) Auto channel scan enabled, channel width is 20mhz. WPA-personal security mode...

any ideas why it would start cutting out? It was working fine for a few months, and only recently started having problems. In the logs, the first few pages are just "UDHCPD sending OFFER of 192.168.0.101 " etc..

My 655 (Rev A2) has always had issues with wireless, though I hate wireless with a passion anyway so my house is all Gigabit Ethernet.

I dislike wireless too, which is why my computer is wired. but my roommate is a dipshit and probably couldnt figure out how to plug in an ethernet cable anyways. Even tho there is internet in almost every room in the house

Yeah, from what I've read online the 655 isn't ideal for wireless. More like an afterthought feature based on the performance.

Hmm, sorry for not updating the thread, got the wireless working. Had to turn off one of the signal types (?), is only n and g now or something... hasnt disconnected in a while.
shaw has gone out a number of times, but the router is fine.

I have had similar problems with my DIR-655 and the wireless cutting out. I've now set it to n/g only. Any other settings I should also change? Thanks in advance. I set the channel width to auto 20-40 also, seeing as how I have the bandwidth this may increase speeds but wont help with the cutting out. Hopefully n/g only fixes that.

n/g fixed the drop-out issues when I had mine, but it was still really bad range/speeds/signal strength.

The new Asus NT-56u is working like a charm though :)

In my past experience, anything with an Atheros chipset inside has its fair share of wireless glitches. Flashing my DIR-615 with DD-WRT has fixed most of my problems.

Yeah I think this is the year I get a new router. This one has served it's purpose well but newer and better certainly exists.
