Hey I was wondering what you as a consumer would be willing to pay for a amount of web space that you would want. Ranging from 100megs to 2gigs and such. What would be a reasonable monthly fee?

From a clients point of view, I'd be more concerned about how much I can transfer per month, and what features (scripting languages, databases, bandwidth monitoring tools, etc) are on the server then how much disk space I got.

Windows or Unix?
Web Scripting Languages?
Databases?
E-mail?
Virtual Hosts?
Shell Access (ssh not telnet)?
File access (scp not ftp)?
Etc...
All those would be important to me.
Depending on the answers to those between $20 and $50 per month probably.

Back when I used to run a decently large site, we could transfer 50GB upload a month easy, though we only took up a couple hundred MB of actual HD space. All you have to do is mirror a single popular 50MB file and you can do gigabytes of traffic a day easy.
If I were looking for large-sized hosting again - first I simply eliminate all those that don't have the scripting language I require (would be ASP / ASP.NET for me, probably also with MS SQL Server or MSDE access), then find the one with the cheapest rate per GB uploaded. Once you are looking at multiple GB traffic per month usually HD-space isn't an issue anymore. Other things (shell access, etc.) aren't that important to me, I just run my own development web-server at home on my LAN, and FTP the files when they are ready.
